Exhibition- Benoit Desfossés- 100
years of hockey in Montréal

Original and daring exhibition, gathering art and 100 years of hockey
in Montréal will be taking place March 18th to April 5th in Montreal. The
artist Benoit Desfossés proposes around 50 oil canvas restoring the
history of hockey in Quebec. 100 years of inheritance, 100 years of
hockey, 100 years of passions!
The artist, Benoit Desfossés paints and draws since his young age, about
40 years now. The theme of his new exhibition impose itself: "In the
beginning I only wanted to paint my idols; Maurice Richard, Jean Beliveau
and Guy Lafleur." The history behind the Montréal Canadians and
Québec are closely linked and he had chosen to bring them to life through
his paintings. "My art talks about my passion and about our
collective history" resume the artist.
The productions are a combination of collages, pictures, hockey idols,
witness of our history. From the days of Newsy Lalonde to Patrick Roy;
from the Empress of Ireland to the crisis of Ice Storm; certainly 100
years of history, ups and downs catch the eye of the artist. "It
inspires me textures; witnesses of courage and determination. Arabesque
motifs and stencil art reveal elegance, ability, continuality and success.
When looking closely at the paintings you will find the omnipresence of
newspaper articles. Media is a daily reminder of hockey and the impact it
has in our lives. It reminds us of the great hockey history that is with
us at all times not only in Montreal but across the province of Quebec and
far beyond." www.benoitdesfosses.com
